Easy To Weld Ultra High Strength Steel For The Coal Industry
A few days ago, the first batch of 1,200-ton contract for the easy-weld ultra-high-strength steel Q890CFD independently developed by Baosteel was delivered to users. The product will be used to manufacture super-large hydraulic supports for coal mines.
In recent years, Baosteel has continued to develop ultra-high-strength steels for coal mining machines in response to the market demand of the coal mining machine industry. It has conducted scientific research on the yield strength, weldability, and toughness requirements of the products, and optimized composition matching, rolling and cooling. The process solved the contradiction between the weldability and strength of the ultra-high-strength steel and the flatness of the steel plate, and successfully developed the easy-to-weld ultra-high-strength steel Q890CFD that can be welded under general preheating conditions.
In May last year, Baosteel researchers intervened in advance and successfully applied Q890CFD to the manufacture of a 8.2-meter hydraulic support prototype. After 35,000 loading and compression tests, various technical performance indicators meet the design requirements, and it has passed the certification of China Coal Mine Safety Standards Center. In addition, the 8.2-meter coal mine hydraulic support manufactured by Baosteel’s Q890CFD product can reduce the weight by 2,055 tons with a complete mining face (about 175). The successful development of this prototype will help raise the height of one-time mining in coal mines, improve coal mining efficiency and corporate benefits. In October last year, a user in Shandong and Baosteel formally signed a batch contract for 1,200 tons of Q890CFD.
While Q890CFD was approved by a user, in November last year, Baosteel, two scientific research institutes and coal mining machinery factory jointly developed coal mine super-large hydraulic supports were exhibited at the Beijing International Coal Mine Equipment Exhibition, and domestic and foreign users were interested in using the technology obtained by Q890CFD. Progress showed great interest. In the future, Baosteel will continue to devote itself to the research of ultra-high-strength steel technology to help the coal industry with efficient mining, technological progress, and transformation and upgrading.
For a long time, it has been difficult to improve coal mining efficiency and benefits due to the restriction of the height of the hydraulic support of the shearer. At present, the maximum support height of domestic coal mining machines is 7.2 meters. If it can be increased to more than 8 meters, the recovery rate of coal resources will be greatly improved. Increasing the support height of the shearer means a significant increase in working resistance and support strength. The use of general high-strength steel must increase the thickness of the steel plate, which will inevitably increase the weight of the support, resulting in difficulties in transportation, installation and maintenance of the support; if ordinary quenched and tempered super high strength is used Steel, because it must be welded at a higher temperature, greatly restricts the manufacturing efficiency and at the same time leaves hidden dangers to structural safety.
Therefore, improving the strength of the hydraulic support steel while improving the welding performance has always been one of the issues that the shearer manufacturers and steel companies focus on.
